This role requires a technically strong professional who can deliver scalable, reliable, and high-performing e-commerce solutions while supporting business requirements, platform integrations, and continuous storefront improvements.

  • Work with Shopify Online Store 2.0 features, including dynamic sections, app blocks, metafields, and metaobjects.
  • Support multi-store, multi-country, multi-currency, and multi-locale storefront implementations.
  • Optimize storefront performance, responsiveness, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Manage theme development, testing, deployment, and version control.

2. Custom Shopify Application Development

  • Build and extend Shopify apps using technologies such as Node.js, React, Remix, and other relevant frameworks.
  • Work with Shopify Admin APIs, GraphQL APIs, REST APIs where applicable, and Shopify app extensions.
  • Implement secure authentication, API access, and application permission management.
  • Develop scalable solutions capable of supporting high-traffic events, seasonal sales, and peak shopping periods such as Black Friday.
  • Troubleshoot application issues, optimize performance, and maintain application reliability.
  • Follow coding standards, testing practices, and secure development principles.

3. HTML, CSS, and JavaScript Development

  • Develop responsive and interactive storefront experiences using HTML5, modern CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Apply CSS Flexbox, Grid, custom properties, and responsive design techniques.
  • Use Vanilla JavaScript and modern lightweight libraries where appropriate.
  • Work with frontend build tools and development workflows such as Shopify CLI, Vite, and Tailwind CSS, as applicable.
  • Maintain source code using Git-based version control systems such as GitHub or GitLab.
  • Collaborate with design, product, and engineering teams to implement user interface improvements.

4. Shopify Webhooks and Event Processing

  • Configure and maintain Shopify webhooks for orders, products, inventory, fulfillment, customers, and other relevant events.
  • Develop secure webhook endpoints and validate incoming webhook requests.
  • Process webhook payloads and synchronize data between Shopify and external applications.
  • Implement reliable error handling, retry mechanisms, duplicate-event detection, and idempotent processing.
  • Address potential event-ordering issues and ensure data consistency across integrated systems.
  • Monitor webhook delivery, troubleshoot failures, and implement logging and alerting mechanisms.
  • Ensure reliable event processing during high-volume transaction periods.

5. Third-Party Systems Integration

  • Design, develop, and maintain integrations between Shopify and enterprise platforms, including:
    • Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
    • Order Management Systems (OMS)

  • Evaluate and implement suitable Shopify apps or integration platforms when appropriate.
  • Synchronize orders, inventory, product information, fulfillment status, customer data, and returns.
  • Troubleshoot API failures, synchronization delays, duplicate records, and data inconsistencies.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure reliable end-to-end integration.

6. Scalability, Performance, and Reliability

  • Design scalable Shopify applications and integration workflows.
  • Implement background processing, queues, caching, and other appropriate techniques to handle high transaction volumes.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and improve application and storefront responsiveness.
  • Establish monitoring, logging, error recovery, and operational support practices.
  • Ensure the reliability and integrity of data flowing between Shopify and connected systems.

7. Technical Leadership and Collaboration

  • Lead technical implementation and contribute to Shopify architecture and development decisions.
  • Collaborate with e-commerce, product, design, operations, and business teams.
  • Translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.
  • Conduct code reviews and promote maintainable, reusable, and secure code.
