Maintenance Manager – Power Generation
New York City | Full-time | On-site
Base salary: $170,000–$190,000 per year, plus bonus eligibility

AXG is recruiting a Maintenance Manager for an established power generation business in New York City.

This is an opportunity for an experienced maintenance leader to take ownership of equipment reliability, maintenance delivery and outage performance at a major generating facility. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will lead maintenance, instrumentation and controls, and planning teams, combining visible leadership in the field with disciplined budget and resource management.

The opportunity

You will lead the maintenance of steam turbines, power boilers, generators, combustion turbine equipment and associated plant systems. Your remit will include routine maintenance, breakdown response, major outages and supporting fuel-storage infrastructure.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading maintenance supervisors, technical teams and maintenance planning personnel.
• Developing and managing the annual maintenance budget, contractor resources and maintenance expenditure.
• Owning outage planning and execution, including scope, schedules, manpower, costs and return-to-service readiness.
• Improving preventive and corrective maintenance through effective use of EAM/CMMS systems.
• Working closely with operations and engineering to resolve equipment problems and reduce unplanned downtime.
• Supporting fair and consistent administration of collective bargaining agreements.
• Maintaining high standards of safety, environmental compliance and work quality.
• Developing team capability and applying lessons learned to improve future maintenance performance.

What you will bring

• At least 10 years’ experience in power plant operations or maintenance.
• Demonstrated supervisory or management experience within a utility or power generation facility.
• Strong knowledge of conventional steam generation, boilers, steam turbines, generators and associated controls.
• Experience planning and delivering major maintenance outages.
• Confidence managing budgets, contractors and competing maintenance priorities.
• Experience using EAM/CMMS systems to manage plant maintenance.
• A degree in engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent technical training and hands-on power plant experience.
• A valid driver’s license.

Experience leading within a unionized environment and administering collective bargaining agreements would be advantageous.

Working arrangements

This is an on-site position requiring regular field inspections. Extended hours, weekends and on-call availability will be required during outages and operational emergencies. Duties include climbing, bending and handling equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with reasonable accommodation where applicable.
